PayPal Limited My Account: What to Do Next | SettleQuik
What a PayPal limitation means, why accounts get limited, how to respond, and what happens to your balance during PayPal's 180-day hold.
The short answer
A PayPal limitation restricts what you can do with your account — often sending, withdrawing or receiving money — until PayPal's review is finished. Many limitations are lifted once you provide the information PayPal asks for. If a limitation becomes permanent, PayPal's user agreement allows it to hold your balance for up to 180 days before you can withdraw it.
First, find out what PayPal is asking for
Log in on the website or in the app and check the Resolution Center and the notification PayPal sent you. It usually lists what's restricted and what PayPal needs — identity documents, proof of address, details about a transaction, or information about your business.
Respond quickly and completely. A limitation that asks for a document can often be cleared within days. One that's ignored usually isn't.

Why PayPal limits accounts
- Missing or unconfirmed information. PayPal needs to verify who you are, especially as the amount you receive grows.
- Unusual activity. A sudden change in how much you receive, or who you receive it from, can trigger a review.
- Disputes and chargebacks. A high share of payments being disputed is one of the most common triggers.
- Activity the Acceptable Use Policy restricts. PayPal's Acceptable Use Policy restricts certain goods and services, including some sexually oriented content. Payments connected to restricted activity can lead to a permanent limitation.
What not to do
Don't open another account to get around the limitation. It goes against PayPal's user agreement and usually ends with both accounts restricted.
Don't change how you describe payments to get past a review. If the work you're paid for isn't allowed under PayPal's policies, rewording it doesn't change that — and it makes a limitation much harder to resolve.
If the limitation is permanent
A permanent limitation means PayPal has decided to close the account. Your balance may be held for up to 180 days to cover possible disputes, after which you'll usually be able to withdraw what's left. Watch your email and the account for instructions during that time.
In the meantime, the bigger problem is every place your PayPal link still appears — your bio, pinned posts, old invoices and saved client chats.
Make one closure a small problem
A SettleQuik page lists every way you get paid under one link. If PayPal limits your account, you take PayPal off your page, and everyone still reaches your other methods through the same link they already have. The payment goes directly to you, and SettleQuik never touches the money.
It won't reverse a limitation or get around PayPal's policies. It just keeps one decision from cutting off every way people can pay you.
