When a payment link no longer opens
On Pro, Business and Agency, we check your payment links every day to help spot any that no longer open. A check can tell us a link opens a page that doesn't exist. It can't tell us why. The handle may have changed or have a typo, or the account may have been closed or restricted.
1. What a check does.
Once a day, we open each payment link on your page that has a web address. If one answers “not found”, we check it again about an hour later before doing anything. Some methods can't be checked. Zelle, bank transfers and wallet addresses have no web address, and Monzo, YouPay and Wishtender don't give an answer we can read.
2. After two “not found” answers.
If a link answers “not found” on two checks at least an hour apart, we email you, and send a phone alert if you've turned them on. A Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.me link can also be hidden from your page until a check finds it opens again. We never hide your page's only way to get paid. If that's the link, we email you instead.
3. Keep showing it.
If you know a hidden link still opens, open Payment Methods and choose Keep showing it. Checks won't hide that link while you keep it showing. Choose Let checks hide it to undo this.
4. Fix the handle, or check again.
If the handle changed, update it and the link shows again as soon as you save. Check again now asks the site straight away.
5. If it still doesn't open.
The guide in your account takes you through the next steps: check the handle, put a method that opens at the top, tell clients where to pay, and ask the app to review the account if you think it was closed by mistake.
We can't tell why a link no longer opens, and we can't contact a payment app for you.
